Rainy dayz at ACS

Keeping students at Amano Christian School safe and dry during the Rainy Season presents some challenges due to the fact that rainfall is heavy and students move between buildings on a relatively level sight that is generally water-logged. As students know, being on time and the wearing of uniforms is strictly enforced; students know to keep shoes tied and shirts tucked into skirts and trousers at all times and they had better not arrive late. On several occasions this term, we as staff must calculate the weather risks verses keeping to the school schedule. Once after primary assembly and again after lunch, we were trapped in the hall with crashing thunderstorms all around us. Do we run for it between bolts of lightning? No. We wait. When the deluge lets us it’s safe. However, without a quick way to dry 60 pairs of wet socks and trousers calls for some alternative methods coping with a water-logged campus. And alternative methods we have. You can imagine the cheers that erupted in my classroom following this announcement, “Our school does require the wearing of shoes at all times. However, due to the effects of inclement weather, students are allowed to go to lunch and afterwards play barefoot.” Next, “You may go barefoot to the library,” and no one complains. Please enjoy pictures of rainy season days at Amano Christian School.”
