Basketball (RF)

Amano hosted the regional finals on Saturday 3rd October. The girls played against 4 basketball teams. The first team we played against was Mpelembe. That was the best game we played throughout the day. We were focused and coordinated, and we played this game as a proper team. We scored a lot of baskets; Natalya did very well with scoring baskets during that game. We won that game 16-2.

The second game we played against was Lechwe. We have played that team 2 times this season and won both times, but this game, we didn’t win.  We lost our focus and concentration; we “fell asleep” in that game. It was fairly close but they won 5-2.
The third game we played was against Ndola Trust. It was our first game against them this season. We brought back our focus and got our act together. It wasn’t as good as the first game, but we still won it 12 - 0.

The last game we played was against Chengelo girls. We had a short break in between, but that game was equally as bad as the second one. It didn’t help that we had a certain stereotype of that team being really good. That brought us down, despite that it was the last game of the day. We ended up losing that game 0 - 11.

 Overall we came 3rd and qualified to go to Lusaka [Nationals]. The games we played on Saturday were not the best games we played this season, and I trust that the team will give a much better performance this coming weekend at Lusaka!
